On October 29, 2020, Houston GPS hosted a Facebook Live Q&A session about the ongoing litigation between Houston ISD and the Texas Education Agency (TEA). Currently, decisions for the case are pending in both the Supreme Court of Texas and the 3rd Court of Appeals, which could potentially strike down the injunction preventing the TEA from intervening in HISD. While both decisions are based on procedural issues and not the factual issues on hold with the trial court, they could mean changes for HISD even as the lawsuit continues.
Houston GPS staff and our special guest, appellate attorney Amy Maddux, provided an overview of the litigation and answered questions from the public about the potential impacts of the pending court decisions for the district.
