Ratings for the Meeting on September 12th

So far this month, the Houston ISD Board of Education has scheduled four separate meetings in which the trustees were set to vote on agenda items. The highly irregular practice of conducting multiple public business meetings within a single month – with very little notice for the public – generates confusion in the community and cuts into the administration’s time and resources spent on student outcomes.

The meeting on Thursday, September 12, 2019, ended abruptly when the trustees lost quorum (at least 5 trustees must be present to conduct business). The whole board demonstrated a lack of impact and collaboration for allowing this to happen. Every trustee has contributed to the breakdown in communication on this board. All of them are responsible for the delay the district experienced in getting important operational items approved and the harm done to speakers who signed up for Hearing of the Community.
