Ratings for the Meeting on October 10th

The Houston ISD Board of Trustees met last Thursday for its monthly public business meeting. Because the agenda had so few items on it, much of the time was spent discussing progress toward District Goals 1 and 3. Several trustees responded to the presentation – given to them ahead of time – with thoughtful questions about student outcomes and equity in the district. Although there are a number of hotbed issues that should be addressed at this point in the year, the conversation at last week’s meeting was primarily focused on students and could be an early result of board’s work with a new executive coach. We look forward to seeing more substantive, student-focused policies and discussion in the coming weeks.
