Ratings for the Meeting on December 12th

With both a monthly business meeting and a run-off election for two open trustee seats, last week was quite eventful for the Houston ISD community. On Thursday, 12/14, the school board met for the last time in 2019. Although the board was slated to pass a number of measures relating to district progress and goals, several trustees missed multiple votes, and Trustees Lira and Davila left immediately after voting on the first agenda item: appointing Trustee Santos to the Harris County Appraisal District Board.

Unfortunately, the Governance Strategic Plan, one of the items resulting from the board’s work with an executive coach and several poorly attended community meetings, was passed without discussion. The board’s plan for moving forward still lacks meaningful community input.
